Indochine Premium Cruise

Indochine Premium is the one Indochine boat based on Ha Long Bay, and it boards at No. 22, Port 2, Tuan Chau, the address the operator and two agencies give. The operator lists a lift, one cabin adapted for guests with disabilities and connecting rooms for families, spread with the rest of the 37 cabins across three decks. Every cabin has a balcony.

Which of the three Indochine boats is this?

This is the Ha Long one. Indochina Sails sells all three Indochine boats, plus a wooden boat under the company’s own name that also works Ha Long. It runs Indochine and Indochine Grand in Lan Ha Bay, while Premium works Ha Long Bay and the Sung Sot cave. What is on board?

The pool and Jacuzzi are on the third deck, the sundeck and sky bar on the fourth. The operator also lists a mini golf course, a terrace for sunrise tai chi and a rooftop dining area. Inside there is a restaurant the operator calls Tonkin, seating 110 with most tables at a window, a piano lounge, a private dining room for up to 16 and a spa. Two listings add a wine cellar, one of them with cigars, and two list a fitness room.

The cabins run in four classes, on the operator’s figures: 20 Junior Suites of 34 m² on the first and second decks, 14 Suites of 46 m² on the second and third, two Executive Suites of 56 m² on the second, and a single President Suite of 115 m² on the third, with two balconies looking over the bay. The ship is 80.6 metres long, takes up to 110 guests and carries a crew of 68, and the operator dates her to 2023.

The operator says the mini-bar holds soft drinks that are charged, and one listing’s amenity table shows a bathtub only in the Executive Suite. A first-person account on the operator’s blog found complimentary water, fruit and snacks in the suite but nothing to make tea or coffee with.

Why the three-day trip is the weaker buy

The middle day of the two-night programme is spent away from Indochine Premium. One listing’s schedule has you packing a bag after breakfast and boarding a day boat for Lan Ha: kayaking at the Dark and Bright Cave, lunch on the day boat, about an hour and a quarter at Ba Trai Dao beach, then 40 minutes at a pearl farm on the way back. You rejoin the ship around 15:30 as that day’s new guests arrive.

On the listing’s sheets read on 6 August 2026, the Junior Suite is $340 for one night and $670 for the three-day trip, so the second night costs $330. Across the four classes the two-night figure runs between 1.93 and 1.98 times the one-night figure. If you only wanted a second evening on this ship, one night is in our view the better use of the money, and two days or three lays out the wider case.

How does the one-night cruise run?

Pick-up from the Old Quarter is at about 08:00 to 08:30. The operator asks you to check in at its lounge at Tuan Chau between 11:30 and 11:45, and a speedboat has you aboard by noon. Lunch is served as the boat moves in among the islets.

The afternoon depends on which version of the route your date runs. Since 1 June 2026 the operator says it has dropped Luon Cave from the Ha Long route because of crowding, and gives the time to Sung Sot, which it visits straight after lunch, and to Ti Top Island. The operator’s own programme page still lists a Luon Cave kayak at 16:00, so ask which version you are getting. At 18:15 the operator runs a cooking demonstration on the top deck, which it calls the Skydeck here, and dinner is at 19:30 on the listing’s timetable. Squid fishing and board games follow, and massage can be booked.

Tai chi on the sundeck starts at 06:30. After a continental breakfast and the morning excursion, check-out is at 09:00. Brunch is served as the boat heads back. You are ashore at 11:00 or soon after, and in Hanoi around 14:30 to 15:00.

What each cabin costs

A Junior Suite is $340 for one night and the President Suite $750, on one listing’s sheets read on 6 August 2026. They record the highest rate that listing published. Halved, the Junior Suite is $170 each for two sharing. The operator’s own from-price, $175 per person read on 10 August 2026, works out slightly higher at $350 for two.

Among the 82 boats we hold a one-night cabin rate for, read on different dates, the middle entry cabin costs $310 for two, and 21 boats start dearer than Premium’s $340 Junior.

What the fare leaves out

The fare includes the meals, the welcome drink, the entry fees at the sightseeing stops, insurance with tax and service charge, and an English-speaking guide. Tips for crew and guide are extra, as are drinks and the Hanoi shuttle, which one listing prices at $35 a person for the round trip from an Old Quarter hotel or the Opera House. The same listing charges an extra $40 a head for adults and $15 for children on the nights of 24 and 31 December and over Lunar New Year. Spa treatments are charged. The operator’s own list includes a kayak or bamboo-boat excursion; check what is not included for the rest.

On the operator’s terms a child up to four sails free using the existing bedding, with a cot at $25 a night, and children from five to eleven pay a surcharge with no extra bed. Booking direct, one or two cabins can be cancelled free more than ten days out, then 50% from nine to seven days, 75% from six to three and the full fare after that.

Who is Indochine Premium for?

First-time visitors who want Sung Sot and Ti Top with a large ship to come back to, and couples who will use the pool and the sundeck, in our view. The luxury boats category lists the ships priced alongside it.

Travellers with limited mobility. The operator lists a lift and an accessible cabin here, and it describes lifts and accessible facilities on both Lan Ha sisters too, so for this group the choice between the three comes down to the bay. There is a single accessible cabin on Premium, so confirm it is the one on your booking before paying.

When to pick a different boat

Pick another if you want quiet: the operator gives a capacity of 110 guests, and how many people are on board explains what a capacity figure does and does not tell you. Choose one of the Lan Ha sisters if you want two nights in Lan Ha, since Premium’s three-day trip only visits it for the day.
