Rosy is a 22-cabin steel boat that spends its nights in Lan Ha Bay, and every cabin on it has a balcony. What guests at almost every star level praise is the room: large, full of light, 28 m² at the bottom grade. She boards at Tuan Chau Marina. On the halongbaytours.com listing read on 6 August 2026, the cheapest cabin for two was $310 for the night: from $155 per person, two sharing.

The operator dates her to 2019. A halongbaytours.com staff answer says she was renamed from a cruise called Dora. She sleeps 52 over five decks, with the restaurant on the fourth and a sundeck with a sky bar on the fifth. At the front of the third deck there is an outdoor jacuzzi with hot and cold water, open in season. There is a spa, and the wifi is free wherever the 4G signal reaches.

Which cabin should you book?

For two people, the Junior Suite. It is the same 28 m² as the Senior Suite, one deck lower, for $30 less a night. These are the prices for one cabin on the halongbaytours.com listing read on 6 August 2026, the highest rate it showed for each grade; sizes, counts and decks are from the operator’s cabin pages.

Cabin Size How many Deck One night, per cabin Two nights, per cabin for the whole trip
Junior Suite 28 m² 6 Second $310 $610
Senior Suite 28 m² 6 Third $340 $660
Honeymoon Suite, with terrace (sold as VIP Suite) 55 m² 2 Third $380 $740

The Triple Suite is 32 m², and eight of the twenty-two cabins are Triples, the largest single grade on the boat. A Family Connecting suite joins a Junior or a Senior to its neighbour for 56 m². Both are priced on request. Under the operator’s child policy, one child under four sharing with two adults is free and a second pays half; four to six pay 50%, seven to eleven 75%, and twelve and over count as adults. No extra beds are put in.

One guest writes of paying around $700 for three days and two nights, which sits inside the $610 to $740 the listing asks for a cabin over two nights. Ask for the grade and the total in the same email.

What does the fare include?

All meals, the tender, a welcome drink, the cooking demonstration and the sunset party, entrance fees, the bamboo boat, squid fishing, tai chi, the jacuzzi in season, wifi and an English-speaking guide; on the two-night trip the bicycles at Viet Hai too. Kayaking is included. Drinks, tips and the road from Hanoi are extra, cards carry a 3 to 4% fee, and on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve a gala dinner adds $30 a head.

Rosy’s shared limousine collects from the Old Quarter between 08:00 and 08:45 and has you back between 15:00 and 15:30. An agency quotes $30 a head for the round trip, and the operator’s home page has lately advertised the bus as free, so ask which applies on your dates. What is not included covers the rest.

What do guests complain about on Rosy?

Dinner and housekeeping. The complaints are consistent, and they are not about how the ship is built. A guest in room 307 over a night in late December found cockroaches. Another reported a persistent smell coming from the shower and was answered with air freshener rather than a plumber. A third found no cushions on the outdoor chairs, upstairs and on their own balcony, so sitting outside meant sitting on hard slats. Dinner comes up again and again: portions too small, seasoning odd, vegetarians offered a cold salad and something fried. One guest who had paid more than $200 a head could not get water served at dinner.

Read the one and two-star reviews yourself before you book. Twenty minutes will tell you whether that list is maintenance you can shrug off or a spoiled holiday.

What the low reviews mostly leave alone is the cabin. Guests across the star range call the rooms large and bright, and one who booked a Junior Suite was handed a Senior Suite on arrival.

Where does Rosy go?

Into Lan Ha Bay, and only there. She leaves Tuan Chau around noon and lunch is served on the way. The afternoon stop is near Three Peaches beach for a swim and the kayaks. Then come the sunset party, a cooking demonstration, dinner and squid fishing off the stern. The second morning opens with tai chi; then you go into Bright Cave by kayak or by bamboo boat, and brunch is served on the way back. Cabins are cleared by 09:15 and the tender lands you at Tuan Chau at 10:45.

One three-star guest on the one-night trip says the schedule was meant to include small islands to land on and did not deliver. If the second day is what you are buying, look at the two-night version. There a day boat takes you to Cat Ba, where you cycle five kilometres to Viet Hai village, then lunch on board, kayak and swim at Three Peaches. On the last morning you go through Dark and Bright Cave by kayak or sampan. Two days or three sets out that choice.

Check in at the Rosy Waiting Lounge, Block 26, Tuan Chau Marina, between 11:30 and 11:45. The operator charges $100 for a separate tender if you miss the boat. Say the name to your driver and say it twice, because the harbours here are easy to confuse. Rosy’s own terms charge 15% for a cancellation inside fifteen days and the full fare inside seven. If the authorities close the bay before you leave Hanoi you are refunded in full, and a two-night trip cut to one is charged as a one-night trip.

Who it suits

Couples who want a balcony on Lan Ha Bay at close to the middle of the market for this water, who will book a named cabin grade, and who do not need a marquee feature to point at. Groups of three, for whom the Triple is the commonest cabin on board. On those terms she sits comfortably in the best-value list and among the rest of the Lan Ha boats.

Who should look elsewhere

Anyone for whom the food is half the trip, or who wants Ha Long’s own caves and Titop’s viewpoint. If you are still choosing which water to spend the night on rather than which boat, the three bays compared comes before this page.

Where these facts come from

The pier, the times, both programmes, the cabin sizes, counts and decks, the boat’s capacity, decks and launch year, the inclusions and the cancellation, child and weather terms come from rosycruise.com, read on 10 August 2026; three agencies name the same pier. The renaming from Dora is a halongbaytours.com staff answer. Prices are from the halongbaytours.com listing read on 6 August 2026 and move with season, so confirm yours on the quote. Guest remarks are from reviews we collected.

The review-count bar is on a log scale: the boats we can score run from 1 review to 515, so a straight scale would squash almost everything against the left edge.

This is not our score. It is the aggregate across the listings we track, and shows where Rosy Cruise sits against the 108 boats we can score: a median of9.5 on 87 reviews. Scores in this bay cluster near the top (8–9.9), which is why we show you the review count as well.

That number is what we collected and read. The score beside it is the average the listings publish, computed on 160.
