La Casta Regal Cruise

La Casta Regal is a 24-cabin steel boat on Lan Ha Bay, launched by the La Casta Cruise Group in November 2020, and every cabin has a private balcony. On the third deck there is a four-season jacuzzi the operator says takes up to 20 people. On the halongbaytours.com rate sheet read on 6 August 2026 a Junior Suite for two was $300 for the night, the highest rate it published: from $150 per person, two sharing. Every cabin has a bathtub, the seller’s staff told a guest, and the same seller says each room has instant coffee and tea.

How big is each La Casta Regal cabin, and what does it cost?

The Senior Suite matches the Junior in floor area; you pay $20 to be on the second deck. The Honeymoon Suite Balcony is the real step up, 20 m² more for $40 over the Junior, and there are only two of them. The two Terrace suites swap the balcony for a terrace.

For three days, the Junior Suite is the class to book. Its second night comes in $25 under the first; in the Senior Suite and the Honeymoon Suite Terrace the second night costs exactly what the first did, and in the Honeymoon Suite Balcony it costs $20 more. Two days or three weighs up the extra night.

Is there a pool?

There is a big jacuzzi, which agencies sell as a pool. The operator describes a large four-season jacuzzi for up to 20 people on the third deck; one listing calls it a free public jacuzzi or mini pool, another a seasonal swimming pool. Asked by a guest planning an end-of-December trip, that second seller’s staff said it is heated in winter but, being outdoors, may not feel as warm as expected. Can three of you, or a family, share a cabin?

Yes. The operator lists four Family Triple Suites of 40 m² that take three adults and a child, and connecting pairs of Junior or Senior Suites; every other cabin takes two adults and a child. Ask for the triples by name. A seller’s staff also told one group of three that a single cabin with an extra bed costs less than two cabins.

Children’s rates are the seller’s, not the boat’s: halongbaytours.com lets one child under four go free when sharing with two adults and charges 75% of the adult rate from four to ten. Get the figure for your children in writing. The family boats category has the alternatives.

What happens on board, and when?

Pickup from Hanoi’s Old Quarter is between 07:45 and 08:15 and costs extra; halongbaytours.com quoted a shuttle seat at $30 a person return on 6 August 2026, from your hotel or the Opera House. You reach the La Casta lounge at Station 17 of the overnight cruise port at Tuan Chau by about 11:30, and a high-speed tender of about 25 minutes takes you out to the boat.

The weak point of this trip is the first afternoon. Lunch is at 13:00 while the boat crosses into Lan Ha, and the first stop, Three Peaches Beach, is not until 15:45. Have breakfast before the early pickup, keep swimwear in your day bag and expect lunch to be the long sail. How the bays differ sets out what Lan Ha has that Ha Long does not.

At Three Peaches you kayak, swim or take a bamboo boat; in bad weather the stop moves to Dark and Bright Cave. Back aboard from 17:30 there is happy hour with buy-two-get-one-free on some drinks, a cooking class at 18:00, dinner at 19:30 and squid fishing or karaoke after. Next morning, tai chi is at 6:15 and breakfast at 7:00, and at 8:00 you go out to Tra Bau to kayak or swim. Check-out is at 9:30, brunch at 10:30, and you are ashore by about 11:30.

On the three-day trip a day boat collects you at about 8:00 on the second morning, passing Ba Trai Dao and the Van Boi area on the way to the Cat Ba village of Viet Hai, which you ride round by bicycle or electric car from 09:40. Then come kayaking in the lagoons, lunch on the day boat at 12:30 and a beach at two, and you are back aboard at about 16:40. The Viet Hai guide covers the village.

What you pay on top of the fare

Drinks, spa treatments, tips and the Hanoi transfer are outside the price. One listing also charges $40 a person a night for the gala dinners on 24 and 31 December, and $15 a person at Lunar New Year and on the 30 April, 1 May and 2 September holidays. The operator’s fare includes the meals, kayaking, the bamboo boat, an English- or Vietnamese-speaking guide, entrance fees, a welcome drink, Wi-Fi, the jacuzzi and on-board insurance, and a staff answer adds instant coffee and tea in every room. Should you book La Casta Regal?

Book it if a 50 m² Honeymoon Suite Balcony for $340 appeals, or if you want three days in the Junior Suite, where the extra night is cheaper.
