V’Spirit is the boat to book if the cabin is the reason you are going. The operator says each room comes with a private balcony and a bathtub with a sea view, and the operator’s own suite photos show a king bed turned towards the windows, loungers on the balcony and a freestanding tub behind glass. Guests back up the balcony part, in English and in German. The boats sail Lan Ha Bay from Tuan Chau. Guests on Google praise the crew almost without exception; the food divides them more.

Is V’Spirit one boat or two?

Two. The owner says it runs two wooden junks and does not say which cabin is on which. The operator’s phrase is “our two, newly built wooden junks”, on a company page that gives 2012 as the year the business started, and the boats carry no separate names anywhere on the owner’s site, so this page covers the brand. If a reseller attaches a name to one of them, treat it as unconfirmed: the owner’s own site does not use one.

One reseller, halongbaytours.com, describes a single steel boat built in 2018 with 18 cabins. It may describe only one of the two; nobody says which. Google reviews run to September 2026, so V’Spirit is sailing. For what the hull material changes in practice, see wooden hull or steel.

Does the V’Spirit boat actually cruise?

Not much. This is the weakness to plan around, and guests raise it unprompted. One three-day guest felt the main V’Spirit boat hardly moved and was more hotel than cruise; a German reviewer was sorry it covered so little distance; a third, in 2026, said there was little cruising. If you want hours of karst sliding past the rail, this boat is the wrong choice. Lan Ha does not always mean an empty bay either: one family in 2025 found far fewer boats once they reached it, while a guest at Lunar New Year 2026 counted at least 50.

The three-day trip makes it sharper. On day two the operator’s own timetable moves you to a day boat at around 08:00 for Viet Hai, and you are back on the main boat at 16:00. Two guests on the three-day trip, one in the Executive Suite, said they spent that whole day on an older, lesser boat. The Executive Suite guest felt it was not what they had paid extra for, and believed the swap gave the tender time to change over passengers on the main boat. If the suite is the point, book two days. If Viet Hai village is the point, take three days knowing the suite will mostly be where you sleep. Our two days or three guide sets out the trade in general.

The second problem is noise low in the boat. Two reviewers, one naming cabin 102 and one describing a room on deck 1, say an engine or generator kept them awake. The operator places the Senior Suite and Executive Suite on the upper deck. Ask for an upper-deck room in writing; nobody publishes which lower-deck cabins sit closest to the machinery.

What happens on the two-day trip?

The owner’s timetable runs like this.

  • Day 1, 08:15–08:45: pickup in Hanoi’s Old Quarter.
  • 11:45: check-in at V’Spirit’s lounge at Tuan Chau International Harbour.
  • 12:00–12:30: tender out, welcome drink and safety briefing on board.
  • 13:00: lunch in The Dawn restaurant while the boat heads for Lan Ha.
  • 15:00: Bright Cave, rowed by locals in bamboo boats.
  • 17:00: cooking demonstration, then a sunset party with happy hour.
  • 19:00: dinner; later, board games and squid fishing on the top deck.
  • Day 2, 06:30: tai chi; breakfast at 07:00.
  • 07:30: kayaking around Tra Bau, then swimming from 08:00.
  • 09:00: cabin check-out, brunch at 09:30 as the boat returns.
  • 11:00–11:30: back at Tuan Chau.

A family who did the two-day trip in 2025 filled in what the timetable leaves out. Their minibus stopped for about 30 minutes at a pearl shop near the dock. They reached the terminal around 11:00 and waited 45 to 60 minutes for the previous group to come back before the tender took them out. Vegetarians on that trip got separate meals arranged for them. Read which harbour you leave from before you fix your transfer.

What are the cabins like?

There are six classes; the room pages we could read give a size for two of them.

Class What the owner says
Junior Suite Double/Twin 26 m², double or twin beds
Junior Suite Triple 29 m², sold for three
Junior Suite Connecting Double - Twin size not seen
Junior Suite Connecting Triple - Triple size not seen
Senior Suite Double/Twin upper deck, size not seen
Executive Suite Double/Twin/Triple upper deck, king bed facing the bay, two sun loungers

The connecting suites are the class to ask about if you travel as a family of five or six. The owner does not say how the two rooms link, so ask whether there is an inside door. The halongbaytours.com listing gives the Senior Suite as 26 m² and the Executive Suite as 48 m². For how much a class upgrade buys elsewhere, see what your cabin gets you.

How much does V’Spirit cost?

From $150 per person, two sharing, for one night in a Junior Suite. That is half of the $300 cabin rate on the halongbaytours.com listing, read on 6 August 2026 and checked against our records on 10 October 2026. V’Spirit itself publishes no rates, and the listing shows its maximum price per cabin, so a quote may come in lower.

Cabin 2 days, 1 night (per cabin) 3 days, 2 nights (per cabin, whole trip)
Junior Suite, two guests $300 $555
Senior Suite, two guests $330 $600
Executive Suite, two guests $380 $710
Junior Suite Triple, three adults $460 $840

The three-day column is the price of the whole two-night trip. The listing says these rates include 10% VAT and a 5% service charge. The connecting suites are not on the listing at all. Ask the agent for the rate in writing, and our cost guide shows where these figures sit in the market.

What is included, and what is not?

The operator lists meals on the itinerary, an English-speaking guide, the sunset party, entrance fees, tai chi, kayaks, bamboo boats, fishing gear and on-board insurance as included. Drinks, the stand-up paddle board, massage, tips, taxes (the owner’s terms list them as extra; the reseller rates above include them), a holiday service charge over Tet, Christmas and New Year’s Eve, and bank charges are extra. More than one guest was caught out by drinks: one says even water was added to the final bill.

Transport is the muddle. The owner’s timetable starts with a hotel pickup, yet the same page lists transport to and from Tuan Chau as excluded. One guest in 2026 says the hotel pickup cost a small fee. Ask whether your quote includes it. More on the usual extras in what is not included.

Who is V’Spirit for?

Couples and families who want a good room on a traditional-style junk for one night and are content to see the bay mostly from the kayaks and rowing boats. Light sleepers should ask for the upper deck: both noise complaints we read came from lower-deck rooms. Guests often name their guide, Frank in particular, and a few say they left full.

Who should look elsewhere?

Anyone who wants a long day under way should compare other Lan Ha Bay cruises. The main V’Spirit boat covers little distance, so most of what you see of the bay comes from the small boats. Three-day buyers paying for the top suite will lose a day of it to the day boat. Light sleepers offered a lower-deck room should say no.

What we could not confirm

The owner gives no cabin total, launch year per boat or hull detail beyond “wooden junks”; the reseller’s figures are set out above. Nobody publishes how many guests the boats carry, how many decks they have or how long they are. The owner’s site looks neglected: its newest news post dates from 2016, the room pages from 2023, and parts of it still carry placeholder text from a hotel template. Older pages there describe Ha Long and Bai Tu Long routes, while the current itinerary says Lan Ha; guests from 2024 to 2026 describe Lan Ha, but confirm the route when you book. The cabin details and inclusions are the operator’s word; the prices are the reseller’s.

Why people book V'Spirit

Book it if

  • You want a junk where the operator says every cabin has its own balcony and a bathtub facing the water
  • One night is enough for you: the two-day programme keeps you on the V'Spirit boat from lunch to brunch
  • Your Hanoi hotel has offered you this boat: several guests booked it that way and were collected from the Old Quarter without trouble

Good to know

Who should look at something else
  • You picture the boat moving through the bay all day; guests say it covers little distance, and one called it a floating hotel
  • You are paying extra for an Executive Suite on the three-day trip, where day two is spent on a separate day boat
  • You need a confirmed cabin count or capacity before you commit; the owner gives neither, and the only count, 18 cabins, comes from one reseller
What to ask before you pay
8
8 questions, each one tied to something this boat does not publish. Almost none of the cruise pages we surveyed tells you what to ask. Take this list to whoever quotes you.

The moneyWhere the spread hides

What is the single-occupancy supplement?
Not published by any source we read. Common on this coast and often +50% or more.
Child and infant rates?
Not published for this boat by any source we read — the child tables we found are the sellers’ own, identical across every boat they list. Ask for the age bands, not just the discount.

The logisticsThe mistakes that cost a morning

Confirm it is Tuan Chau Marina.
Named by one source only. The piers serving these bays are roughly twenty minutes apart and drivers do occasionally go to the wrong one.
What time is check-in, and what time is cabin checkout?
No source we read publishes either for this boat. Confirm both when you book, especially if you have a flight on the last day.
Which stops does the 3 days · 2 nights add?
The route list we publish is the union across itineraries; no source says which legs the longer trip reaches. This is usually the reason to take it.

If it goes wrongNobody publishes this — get it in writing

What happens if the port closes for weather?
The provincial authority closes the port and every boat stays in. No source publishes this operator’s policy. Ask whether it is a refund or a date change, in writing.
Which cancellation ladder applies to your booking, and what deposit?
We found 7 different ladders across our sources for boats on this coast — free cancellation ends anywhere from 15 to 30 days out. It depends on who you book through, not on this boat. Get yours in writing before the deposit.
Is a cave closure refunded or substituted?
Caves close at short notice here. Substitution is normal; a refund is not. Worth knowing which you are agreeing to.
We do not host guest reviews yet, and we will not reprint a score we cannot audit. This list is what we would want in their place — take it to whoever quotes you, us included.
Boarding times and the cancellation ladder

The boat's own timings

No source we read publishes check-in or checkout times for V'Spirit Cruise. Ask when you book — on this coast checkout is usually between 09:30 and 11:00, and the difference decides whether you get a last morning on the water.

Cancellation — not a property of this boat

We checked every cancellation ladder in our sources. They differ by who you book through, not by which boat you sail: the same boat carries different terms on different listings. So we will not print one and call it V'Spirit Cruise's policy.

Across the 7 distinct ladders we found, free cancellation ends somewhere between 15 and 30 days before check-in. After that the fee climbs to 100%.

When was V'Spirit Cruise launched?

The owner (vspiritcruises.com/about-vspirit) says "Since its inception in 2012" and calls its two junks "newly built" (that is the company start, not a per-boat launch year); halongbaytours.com/cruise/vspirit-cruises.html lists "Built: 2018" (read 2026-08-06). We show the most widely reported figure and recommend confirming it with the operator before you pay.

What is the hull of V'Spirit Cruise made of?

The owner (vspiritcruises.com/about-vspirit) says "our two, newly built wooden junks"; halongbaytours.com/cruise/vspirit-cruises.html lists "Steel Boat" and describes "the steel boat" in a traditional design (read 2026-08-06). The brand has two junks, so the two sources may describe different boats. We show the most widely reported answer and recommend confirming it with the operator before you pay.

Which pier does V'Spirit Cruise leave from?

Tuan Chau Marina, according to one of the sources we read — we could not corroborate it. The piers serving these bays are roughly twenty minutes apart and drivers do occasionally go to the wrong one, so name it when you arrange your own transfer.

What do you not know about this boat?

No source we checked publishes: capacity, decks, length m. A further 4 figures rest on a single source. We would rather say that than fill the gap with a guess. If the operator sends us the figures we will publish them and date them.
