Paradise Legacy Cruise

Paradise Legacy is a 42-cabin steel boat on Ha Long Bay, and every cabin has a private balcony. She entered service in autumn 2025, so her rooms are new. You check in on Tuan Chau Island, ride an electric cart down to the boat, and spend the first afternoon at the Tung Sau pearl farm and on Ti Top Island. Which cabin should you book?

The Deluxe Balcony: twenty of them on the main deck, 28 m² each. The nineteen Executive Balcony cabins on the upper deck are the same size, one deck higher, for $24 more. The two Legacy Suites at the stern of the upper deck are 48 m². At the bow is the single Gallery Suite, 140 m² with a bathtub, which is why it costs so much more than the rest. Families can take one of the connecting pairs of cabins.

The boat has four decks: Main, Upper, the Salon deck, and on top the sundeck, where a jacuzzi looks out over the bay. Le Parfum Spa has four treatment rooms, at extra cost. Wi-Fi reaches the restaurant and bar only.

What does Paradise Legacy cost?

The originvietnam.com high-season sheet read on 14 October 2026 prices each cabin for two on the one-night trip: Deluxe Balcony $449, Executive Balcony $473, Legacy Suite $560 and Gallery Suite $1,233. The two-night trip is priced for the whole stay, from $899 to $2,466. In August the halongbaytours.com sheet had the Deluxe Balcony at $370, so check the date and the season on any quote. Two people sharing the Deluxe Balcony pay $225 each for one night on the October sheet.

The first three grades are $111 apart from bottom to top. The Gallery Suite then adds $673 in one step. A guest upgraded into it in April 2026 wrote about the boat director and two waiting staff, not the room. Read what a luxury cruise actually buys before you reach for it.

The fare covers meals, including an à la carte dinner, water, the cooking demonstration with afternoon tea, tai chi, insurance and entrance fees. Drinks, the spa, tips and the road from Hanoi are extra, and so is the kayak on the one-night trip. The operator’s limousines collect from the Old Quarter between 08:45 and 09:15; originvietnam.com lists the round trip at $42 a guest. A Korean guest warns that the limousine has rear-facing seats and to bring motion-sickness tablets; the Hanoi run covers that leg.

How does the day run?

Check in on Tuan Chau Island between 12:00 and 12:15. The electric cart takes you to the boat at 12:15, there is a briefing at 12:30 and lunch at 13:00. At 14:30 you are at the Tung Sau pearl farm, where the kayak costs extra, and at 16:00 on Ti Top Island. Dinner is in a five-panel Ao Dai if you want one, with a live band. The next morning at 07:45 you walk through Sung Sot Cave. Bills are settled between 09:40 and 10:15 and you are off at Tuan Chau by 10:30.

On the three-day trip the middle day is not spent on this ship. You transfer to the day boat Paradise Explorer at nine and come back around half past three; Tien Ong Cave and the floating village at Cua Van fall on that boat, and the first day’s kayak is included. Me Cung Cave takes the last morning. One four-star guest in November 2025 said the day visits underwhelmed them and that they saw less of the bay than expected. If the extra night is the reason you are paying more, two days or three is where to test that, and the caves and islands describes the stops.

What do guests complain about?

Both one-star reviews come from one Spanish guest who liked the boat and posted twice, in November and December 2025. Services promised in writing were not delivered; the error was acknowledged, and the compensation offered climbed from a glass of wine to a massage to a drinks discount and finally to half the claim. Six weeks later the guest wrote again: a new offer had been withdrawn as they were about to settle, and emails went unanswered. The complaint is about the sales office; the same guest found the excursions low-energy and pitched at older travellers. Get every promised inclusion written into the confirmation and keep the email.

The smaller complaints. A guest in December 2025 found wine prices high, was given a single Ao Dai between the two of them for the dinner, and read the safety briefing as a list of penalties. The November guest says they were taken to a pearl farm twice in close succession. The on-board charges to expect are set out in what is not included.

What this boat is unambiguously good at is the crew. The cruise manager, written as Joselito, JL or LJ, is named again and again, including in one of the one-star reviews. Butlers, waitresses and a tai chi instructor are named elsewhere. Ask whether he is rostered on your dates.

What if the weather stops the trip?

The operator’s terms, read on 14 October 2026, say the port authority decides by 15:00 on the day. Cancel before it decides and you get nothing back; wait, eat lunch and see the sailing cancelled, and you pay $25 for the lunch.
